District
Lahore comprises the city of Lahore and its suburbs. River Ravi
flows on the North and North West side of the district across which
lies district Sheikhupura, district Kasur on the South and Indian
border on the East and North-East. The district is spread over an
area of 1772 square kilometres.
The climate
of the district is hot in summer and cold in winter. The maximum
and minimum temperature recorded in the district is 46ºC and
1.2ºC respectively. The Monsoon starts at the end of June and
continues till the end of August. The average annual rainfall in
the district is about 490 mm. The land is plain and fertile.
The
district was taken over by PRSP on 1st of Oct, 2004. There are
37 Basic Health Units, 23 ZCDs / GRDs and 1 Unani / Tibbi Dispensaries.
