| The
Faisalabad district is bounded on the North and West by Hafizabad,
Jhang and Toba Tek Singh districts respectively. In the East it
touches Sheikhupura district and in the South it is bounded by the
river Ravi, across which lies Okara districts. The district is spread
over an area of 5856 Square kilometres comprising of six Tehsils
Faisalabad City, Faisalabad Sadar, Samundri, Jaranwala, Tandlianwala
and Chak Jhumra.
The district
has extreme hot and cold climate. The maximum temperature during
the summer touches 48ºC while the minimum temperature recorded
is 4ºC. The monsoons visit the area from July to September,
while winter rains occur during January to March. The average rain
fall in the District is about 400 mm. The soil is fertile but some
areas are affected by salinity and water logging.
The
district was taken over by PRSP on 1st of September, 2004. There
are 168 Basic Health Units, 59 ZCDs / GRDs, 3 Unani / Tibbi Disp
and 6 MCH centers.
